Tracy Hannigan

STATUS: Leading Role

AGE: 23 and teenager

GENDER: Female

RACE: Caucasian

ROLE: University student with a need to be paraplegic. Uses a wheelchair whenever possible

APPEARANCE: Tracy looks like your regular university student, with not particularly stunning looks, but a pleasant face and an average build

CHARACTER: Her characteristics are near to those of Juno played by Ellen Page in "Juno" and Tracy played by Evan Rachel Wood in "Thirteen"

NOTE: For much of the action she uses a manual semi-sports chair. Candidates for this role must be able-bodied, fit and ready to learn wheeling. It is hoped the person called will be able to find the time to practice wheelchair skills in her own time well in advance of the shoot. The chair will be provided

Janie Granville

STATUS: Supporting role

AGE: 23

GENDER: Female

RACE: Caucasian

ROLE: Janie is Tracy's best friend

APPEARANCE: She doesn't have outstanding looks and is perhaps a little plain

CHARACTER: She's a supporting role capable of shifting to a more leading role as the story develops. Janie portrays the insecurities of a university student. She's muddlesome and seems sometimes indifferent at the start but when she takes the lead she shows all the characteristics and loyalty of a best friend

Cast, Principal, 118 lines

Carl Fezzlebottom

STATUS: Supporting role

AGE: 21-22

GENDER: Male

RACE: Caucasian

ROLE: University student who falls in love with Tracy

APPEARANCE: Well-spoken, slightly shy and handsome

CHARACTER: Carl's characteristics are similar to those of Patrick, played by Patrick Fugit in "Saved". He's basically likeable. He's cool, calm and collected but a little boring. We get the impression he's been bullied a lot in the past

Cast, Principal, 71 lines

Susan Hannigan

AGE: Mid 40s and early 30's

GENDER: Female

RACE: Caucasian

ROLE: Susan is Tracy's mother

CHARACTER: She is somewhat down-trodden by her husband - the "Yes, dear, whatever-you-say" type - and fairly quietly spoken

Cast, Principal, 23 lines

Henry Hannigan

AGE: Mid 40s

GENDER: Male

RACE: Caucasian

ROLE: Henry is Tracy's father

CHARACTER: An authoritarian, homophobic, classic middle-class, middle-aged, middle of the road guy who has a nice average house in squeaky clean suburbia and who laughs at his own jokes

Cast, Principal, 33 lines

Scott Hastings

AGE: 22-26

GENDER: Male

RACE: Caucasian

ROLE: He likes Tracy and wants to date her. When he finds out the truth about her he becomes the Antagonist

Cast, Principal, 30 lines

Dr. Katravan

AGE: 40s - 70s

GENDER: Male

RACE: East Indian

ROLE: Psychologist (university students' therapist)

APPEARANCE: A very kind face

CHARACTER: He is a very kindly person who looks after his student patients and listens to their troubles, including Tracy's rather unusual disorder. As his name suggests, he is very knowledgeable and likes studying new problems. He's certainly found a new problem to study with his patient, Tracy!

Cast, Principal, 30 lines

James Jackson

AGE: 40s

GENDER: Male

RACE: Caucasian

ROLE: Chair of a disabled lobbying group

APPEARANCE: James uses an electric wheelchair

CHARACTER: He's very full of self-importance and is official about the group's business. A typical group leader who is not disagreeable but firm. He can can get angry, he doesn't really know the word "sorry" but he can eat humble pie

ACTOR: We would prefer to offer this role to a disabled person who has his own electric chair, although he is not required to move very far in the action
